This meme has been going around Tumblr and the web for ages now and I’ve always wanted to do it, so here goes! 😉
Do you have a magical/Pagan name? No. However, my nickname is Star, and it has been for years now. I think it’s fitting given the fact that I love stars (the night sky, astrology etc….)
What does it mean? See above.
How did you find Paganism? My first exposure to it was in high school while memorizing the script for Shakespeare’s Macbeth (I was one of the witches!). After that, it was always something I had an interest in though I didn’t get very far in my reading/research then due to other distractions.
How long have you been practicing? I’ve been actively practicing for about a year now, though I’ve dabbled on and off since my early 20s.
Solitary or group practitioner? Solitary. I’m open to meeting/learning from others though!
What is your path? Eclectic would probably be the best way to describe it. I choose to call myself a witch, with an emphasis on sea witchery.
Are you out of the broom closet? Somewhat.
Who is your patron God? I don’t have one at the moment.
Who is your patron Goddess? I don’t have one just yet (at least I don’t feel I do?), but I gravitate toward Hecate/Hekate, and Arianrhod because both rule aspects of the stars, the sea, and the night sky.
What Gods do you worship? See above.
Do you fear darkly aspected Gods/Goddess, or rather respect them? I think there’s a healthy sense of ‘fear’ there, but I definitely respect them.
Do you worship the Christian God? No.
Do you ever worship animals? No.
Or plants? No.
Do you regularly commune with nature? I try to. I’m sure I don’t do it as often as I should.
Ever walked barefoot in the woods? Not that I can recall.
Taken a camping trip just to talk to nature? Oh, how I wish! Maybe once the little monster is old enough to not want to wander off without notice. 😉
Describe the moment you felt closest to Mother Earth? I feel close to Mother Earth whenever I see the ocean or I’m near it. Fortunately, we live on the coast, and we live near a nature preserve, so I’m surrounded by reminders of her.
Do you have a familiar? No.
Have you ever called upon the powers of an animal in ritual? No.
Or a plant? No.
Do you hug trees? Love trees, but I haven’t hugged one, no.
Give them gifts? No.
What is your favorite flower to work with? I don’t work with flowers per se, but I do love peonies, cherry blossoms, sunflowers, roses, water lilies, and poppies – all of which are featured on my half sleeve.
What is your favorite tree to work with? I do not work with trees at the moment.
WHEEL OF THE YEAR
What is your favorite holiday? I love the seasons of Autumn and Winter, so it’s no surprise I love Samhain/Halloween, and Yule/Christmas.
What is your least favorite holiday? I don’t have one.
Have you ever held a ritual on a holiday? I don’t hold rituals in the traditional sense. What I try to do is acknowlede the holiday in some way, whether it be by lighting candles, burning incense, listening to music, drawing/crafting or all of the above.
Ever taken a day off work to celebrate a Pagan holiday? No.
Do you celebrate Yule on the 21 rather than the 25? I celebrate Yule according to what day the Winter Solstice falls on. I celebrate Christmas separately with my family.
Have you ever felt the veil thin? Yes.
Ever danced the Maypole? No.
Know what the Maypole symbolizes? Oh, yes. 😉
How do you usually celebrate the Pagan holidays? See above.
Do you use Tarot? Yes, regularly. Currently I’m waiting (im)patiently for the arrival of my Shadowscapes tarot deck and companion book. I’ve wanted it for months now and I’m so excited to get to know, and work with this deck.
Do you use runes? Yes, occasionally. I made my own set of witches’ runes (not the Ogham runes) using rocks I found along the beach here.
Do you use a pendulum? No.
Do you use dowsing rods? No.
Do you use astrology? Occasionally.
Any other form of divination? No.
What was the first spell you did? I don’t cast spells. The ‘spells’ I do perform are mostly the praying, and wishing upon a star variety, nothing fancy.
What was the latest? N/A
Ever done a love spell? N/A
A job spell? N/A
A healing spell? N/A
What was the most powerful spell you’ve ever performed? N/A
What deities do you usually call on? N/A
Do you believe in Vampires? No, at least not the Hollywood variety. I do believe there are some people who have vampire characteristics where they ‘suck’ the life out of you. The ones who are always trying to bring you down, are always negative etc. I try to stay far, far away from those people.
Faeries? Oh, yes!
Mermaids? Oh, yes! I love anything having to do with the sea, so I feel there is much, much more out there than we know and mermaids can’t be too far fetched.
Ever “seen” any of the above? I don’t recall seeing any, but when I was little I felt the presence of fairies around me. Accidentally bumping into or stepping one, things being misplaced etc. Though, I think it was most likely due to the fact the house I grew up in had spirits in it. There were always strange things going on there.
Ever talked to any of the above? No.
Ever used any of the above in magic? No.
Do you have one of them as a personal guardian? Not that I know of.
Do you see a rabbit, a man or a woman in the moon? I see a woman. She is lovely.
Own a cat? Yes. His name is Trouble, he’s 8 years old and the sweetest cat ever.
When you meditate, what does your happy place look like? My happy place is at the beach with nothing but white sand filled with seashells, driftwood, and the smell/taste of sweet and salty sea air.
Do you work with Chakras? No.
Do you believe in past lives? I do, sort of. I know this is most likely not my first go-round.
If so, describe a few briefly: I can’t recall details, mostly scenarios I feel I’ve been through more than once. Does that make sense? Probably not, heh.
Do you believe in soul mates? Yes, though not necessarily in the romantic sense. I believe you have more than one soul mate and they can be your significant other, a really amazing friend, a family member or even your children.
Do you have a spirit guide? No.
Is it always love and light? No, it definitely is not. There has to be a balance of light and dark, it’s up to you to make sure you don’t go to either extreme.
