KVD Shade + Light Obsession

For about a year now I had been debating whether to purchase the Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour and Eye Contour palettes. I always seemed to end up buying other things and/or putting it off for one reason or another. I’m a creature of habit, with sensitive skin, and I tend to stick to products and brands I love.

It wasn’t until early October when I saw the little IG video tease KVD beauty put up about the pending release of the whole Shade + Light line that I knew it was time to take the plunge.

The Kat Von D Shade + Light Obsession Collector’s Set ($200) is exactly what I’d anticipated and more. While it is a bit pricey, I feel it’s great for those new to the KVD line (like myself) and those who are major fans and/or  makeup collectors.

This set includes :

• Shade + Light Eye Contour palette
• Shade + Light Eye Quads (Plum & Smoke)
• Shade + Light Contour palette
• Shade + Light Eye Contour brush (& case)
• Shade + Light Contour brush (& case)
• KVD embossed zip up coffin case
• KVD signed art insert(*)

Personally, I’m glad it includes the updated (refillable) packaging for the contour palette as I know not all the shades will get used up at the same time. It’s a smart way to package anything that’s supposed to be ‘universally flattering’.

I’ve not been able to fully experiment with the eye palettes as of yet, but in time I will and I plan to report back with a review and what not.

NOTE : Not everyone was sent the ‘signed art insert’ as described on Sephora and KVD’s website and there has been quite a stir regarding this. Unfortunately, my set didn’t include it either. However, per my email from Sephora’s customer support team, they are working with the KVD brand to send out the insert separately. I’ll let you know when/if that happens. 😉
