ASTROLOGY (noun) \ə-ˈsträ-lə-jē\
1. archaic : astronomy
2. the divination of the supposed influences of the stars and planets on human affairs and terrestrial events by their positions and aspects
Growing up my mother was very into astrology, horoscopes, Chinese zodiac and the like. She would often consult her horoscope every month and/or on special occasions. She was also very into numerology; number sequences in our birth dates especially since my sisters, my son and myself were born on the 25th of our respective birth months. So, it’s no surprise I have the same affinity toward astrology (and numerology).
The first time I became interested in my own horoscope was early middle school. Knowing how much I loved to read, one of my aunts gave me a box full of used books. One of those books happened to be an astrology book. Unfortunately I don’t remember the title nor author of the particular book, but I do remember reading and re-reading all about my sun sign.
My sun sign is Aquarius. Most people know their sun signs as it’s one of the first things you find out when searching for your sign.
Aquarius : The Water Bearer (11th Sign of Zodiac)
Color: Sky Blue
Anatomy: Ankles, shins, circulation
Keywords: individualistic, assertive, independent, humanitarian, inventive, original, eccentric, opinionated, intellectual, idealistic, cool, friendly, detached
My rising sign is also Aquarius. The rising sign is the 1st house cusp in your personal horoscope. “The first house of your horoscope represents your identity, physical characteristics, appearance, health and well-being, the physical body, vitality, attitude, temperament and the way you look upon the world. It also represents your self-image, outer personality and disposition. ” [ Source : Horoscopes Within]
You are particularly sensitive to the values of friendship in the sense that you see yourself as a link within a chain, certainly a different and original one, but with no will to flatter your ego or to individually assert yourself. On the contrary, your aim is to immerse yourself in your friendly relations and to participate in projects and ideals of the whole human community.
With this Ascendant, you come across as idealistic, altruistic, detached, independent, original, surprising, gifted, contradictory, innovative, humanistic, likable, friendly, self-confident, impassive, quiet, intuitive, creative, charitable, elusive, disconcerting, generous, tolerant, paradoxical, and you cannot stand any kind of constraint. But you may also be marginal, resigned, distant, Utopian, maladjusted, eccentric and cold.
For quite a while I only knew my sun sign (Aquarius) and went with that. Knowing what I know now, it’s quite beneficial to also know your moon sign. I did a little research and based on this Moon Sign calculator, my moon sign is Sagittarius.
Moon in Sagittarius :
The searching Sagittarius-moons are always alert, open and interested in everything. They easily become enthusiastic; they are idealistic, love their freedom but are rarely persevering. They demand as well as concede liberty and tolerance in love. They dispose of an impulsive, enthusiastic and optimistic approach to live. They are adventurers, nature – lovers and the notorious travelers among the moon signs. They are always driven to new horizons, which they try to conquer. They are also travelers in the mental sphere full of the desire for knowledge and discovery. They deal with last questions and the sense of life and try to pass on the answers they have found. They enjoy living but sometimes tend to be sectarian and to proselytize.

The description above is pretty accurate, especially the part I underlined. Funnily enough, I was born under a Waning Moon, too. It makes sense since I’m really feel like my true self during the Waning and Dark Moons. See how that all ties in with everything? And by everything I mean my current path and being drawn to Hecate. 😉
